Oral hearings at the 9th RAA contest took place on 23-25 August. Based on the outcome of online rounds, the Contest oral hearings drew together 24 best teams out of 56 teams from across Russia and the CIS.
As usual, the Contest has two stages. In stage 1, which takes place from March to June, the teams are submitting into the organising committee statements of claim and statements of defence, which is followed by the online rounds held via videoconferencing. In stage 2 the members who got qualified from the online rounds and based on the scores for litigation documents (the statement of claim and the statement of defence) participate in the Arbitration Association Contest Conference and in oral hearings in Moscow.
Associates of KIAP Law Firm provided their comprehensive support in conducting the Contest. This year, the ceremony of awarding the Contest winners was held with engagement of Andrey Korelskiy, the Managing Partner and Founder of KIAP Law Firm. He awarded a certificate for internship to one of the best Contest speakers.
Anastasiya Ryabova, Associate practicing international commercial arbitration, acted as the trainer for team No. 11 of the MSAL, which got the 3rd place in the nomination "Best Statement of Defence".
In the nomination "Best Statement of Claim", junior associates of KIAP Law Firm Artem Gritsuk and Stepan Rozhkov won the 1st place as members of the HSE team No. 13 (Higher School of Economics), whereas after the Contest final day the team made it to the finals and finished on the 3rd place. Stepan Rozhkov was the team captain, and also the speaker in the Contest semi-finals.
